Women Workforce – In ‘Her’ Shoes

CX-wonder-women-womens-day-customer-experience

“The day will come when men will recognize woman as his peer, not only at the fireside, but in councils of the nation. Then, and not until then, will there be the perfect comradeship, the ideal union between the sexes that shall result in the highest development of the race.” – Susan B. Anthon

There are certain discussions and leitmotifs which never cease to go out of fire. Talking about Women Empowerment, advocating equality and everything else related to overcoming stereotypes and gender bias included. If you have been active on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, you would deeply relate with what I am talking about. With emergence of many women empowerment centric campaigns and hashtags like #BreakTheBias, #She, #BeYou and so many more, you cannot ignore the fact that the general trend is changing. People are becoming more accepting. They are questioning and looking at things, once considered totally out of question for women to do – to be possible. And most importantly, all this is happening NOW!

#SheIsEmpowered

With so many changes and disruptions going on the surface of our stable and sustainably functioning society, it is time to celebrate ‘being a woman’. While the statistics of women in workforce is swiftly gaining momentum, contact center industry is also not far off from this trend. With almost a 30 -70 % ratio of working women in contact centers, a lot can be said and understood about this changing trend. With this great economic stability and work regime, contact centers are helping the women of today to embark their own identity. They are being offered the best of facilities (no gender bias), the payouts are great, and most importantly – it is giving a fair chance to them, by opening up new spaces, where they can negotiate their identity and become, feel empowered.

#SheIsAHero

In a traditional and world-class patriarchal society, women are not supposed to be out of their homes and kitchens perhaps after a certain hour of the day. With a 24*7 work environment and always being on her toes, call centers are giving ladies ample space to prove her worth, calibre, and unmatched dedication. But this is the up-side of being a working professional, being a woman and working in a call center. And like everything else, this too has a negative side to it. If you have seen your mother working hard to sustain her career while raising you and cooking meals, you will be able to empathise with ‘her’ – women workforce.

#SheIsBadass

‘Her’ – the girl who sits next to you, takes equal or more calls than you, handles irate customers with ease, completes her targets and is in hurry to reach home. She is in a constant state of motion, always tackling multiple things and emotions in her mind. You cannot understand her hardships and daily struggles, nor can she understand yours. The economic scenario and work culture is changing. And, it is changing fast. New opportunities, new positions, new responsibilities, and so much more is being catered out to ladies. And, they are taking the industries with storm. Proving every bit of self-worth, focus and conquering all challenges and odds of working in a male-dominated ‘work-society’.

While we celebrate the free and badass spirit of all ladies, we hope to see more positive and motivating changes ahead especially in statistics adding towards women workforce. Starting today!

Meanwhile, Happy Women’s Day!
