Fast Moving Generation of Technology

Pandemic effect of Communication Technology

Its been interesting travelling metro early morning, oh! I travel, compartment full of ladies (privileged), majority of them to their offices. Working schedule may not leave enough place for your kins and loved ones and this is the time you would love to hook on to them no matter, you are crushed between huge Aunties or your feet is stamped by a high heel. You are still plugged in to your bluetooth headset or earphones or chats (in my case). That’s how communication technology has a pandemic effect in each one of our lives. In a conversation with my colleague (engineer), who explained how an extension is installed on every metro station which is connected to the telecom tower, that signals us as “connected” underground.

East Africa, the new outsourcing destination?

Being at an event without an aid to chat with usually makes me more of a social animal. So with scotch in my hands and socrates in my head, my attention was drawn to Uganda. Why Uganda? because this was the first time I was seeing another east African country projecting itself as an outsourcing destination. Least of all when it is shedding the all Africa stereotype of being just a wildlife tourist attraction. Seriously! we have only heard about Kenya trying to make the right noises in the BPO arena till now. Apparently, the east except Kenya and West Africa (MENA) region has been slower than others in surfing on the waves of outsourcing, but it seems like a high tide time for the region.

ICT adoption in the Education Sector

The education industry is one the fastest developing sectors in the world and the Indian education sector happens to be the most lucrative of the lot. There has been a tremendous revolution in ways of disseminating knowledge and information within educational institutions. More and more academic institutes are opening doors to welcome the advancement of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Recognizing the advantages that ICT can bring in, there has been a rising demand and desire to adopt the latest ICT tools to impart education through a novel and innovative approach. Coming to the interactions taking place within the educational sector, communications technology can do wonders in facilitating better connectivity amongst all stakeholders involved such as students, faculty, management, parents, and other peer institutions and relevant organizations. Automation of the entire cycle of interactions can make it more manageable and orderly. A centralized repository that would store the relevant information and be available at a single click would help reduce time and efforts that were earlier too cumbersome on the manual handling of processes.
